Dr. Carrie Loewen

Dr. Carrie Loewen has dedicated her life to helping children develop healthy, happy relationships with dental care. Born in Northern California to a military family, Dr. Loewen learned early on how to adapt to change quickly, a skill that now helps her connect deeply with young patients and their evolving worlds and schedules. Her journey to dentistry began in high school when she helped brush her sister’s teeth during her orthodontic treatment. That small act sparked a lifelong passion for healthcare, one she brings into every patient visit.

Dr. Loewen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Texas Tech University and completed both her doctorate in dental surgery (DDS) and pediatric dentistry certificate at UCLA. Today, she is proud to be board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and actively involved in professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Society of American Indian Dentists. She also teaches part-time in the UCLA Pediatric Dentistry program and serves as a cleft palate team volunteer at Providence Saint John's.

With over 14 years of experience, Dr. Loewen brings a uniquely personal and comprehensive approach to pediatric care. Whether she’s polishing baby teeth while singing the ABCs or using advanced laser tools for tongue-tie releases, her gentle, hands-on style helps children feel comfortable and safe in the dental chair. She’s especially passionate about preventive care and empowering families with the tools and knowledge they need for lifelong oral health.

From digital x-rays with AI-read capabilities to intraoral scanning and ozone therapy, Dr. Loewen integrates the latest dental tech with the same care she’d want for her own children. Her scope of care expands to include your child’s overall health, airway issues, orthodontic development, and calming anxiety through sedation when needed. She’s also known for her personal accessibility and Saturday hours, which make scheduling easier for busy families.

Dr. Loewen’s vision for Pacific Palisades Pediatric Dentistry was to build a trusted, boutique-style dental home in Santa Monica, especially for families who moved here after the local wildfires. Honoring her mentors, Dr. Kamins and Dr. Trask, she has carried forward their legacy of excellence, caring, and community connection. Outside the office, she finds joy in hiking, swimming, teaching, and staying active as Parent Association President at her child’s school. Not to mention, she has a solid spider dribble - just in case basketball breaks out in the breakroom.

Continued care every change

A Dental Home That Endures

When circumstances required our practice to move to Santa Monica following the Palisades fires, Dr. Loewen’s vision remained clear: to preserve the sense of community and continuity families had come to rely on for years. This practice was always meant to be more than a dental office, it was created to be a true dental home. For families navigating displacement and change, maintaining familiar faces, trusted care, and a sense of normalcy became more important than ever, and that commitment continues today.

During this transition, the ability to continue caring for patients without interruption came down to people showing up for one another. With the support of her team and colleagues, including Dr. Torok, who helped ensure the practice had a place to continue serving families in Santa Monica, Dr. Loewen was able to maintain continuity of care during an uncertain time. While the Palisades will always be home and returning one day remains a hope, she is proud to continue caring for both longtime and new families with the same consistency, compassion, and trust that have always defined the practice.

Patient Experience

From playful introductions to gentle hands-on care, every visit is designed to put children at ease. We walk kids through each part of their appointment, demonstrate tools on their hand if needed, and always let them know they’re free to ask questions or take a break. It’s a space where smiles and laughter are welcome - whether for a routine cleaning or a more involved procedure.

Smiles for our community, not just our practice

Our commitment to giving back is at the heart of who we are. During the challenges brought on by the fires, we were deeply grateful for the support of our community and colleagues who helped ensure families could continue receiving the care they deserve.

That same spirit of service shapes how Dr. Loewen stays involved beyond the dental chair. She serves as a volunteer on the cleft palate team at Providence Saint John’s and teaches future dentists as faculty at UCLA Pediatric Dentistry. She also visits local schools to educate children about oral health and is the proud president of the Parent Association at her child’s school. Through these efforts, we remain committed to giving back and helping our community stay as healthy and resilient as the smiles we treat.
